Anyone else noticing this on their machine? I asked the dealer if there were any spacers for the box blade so the sway brackets could be made tighter to the implement, he said, "None came with the unit so I guess their not needed"??.
I posted a link above to a page of the twisting drag links. Twisting drag links?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Unless I put spacers on the box blade, adjusting the stabilizers wont remedy this, and the dealer made me feel if I put spacers on it, Id be doing something I shouldn't. Also, when I asked the dealer about spacers, I was only concerned about the box blade shifting back and forth on the pins, I did not realize it was twisting like this until I hooked it back up today and stared at it for quite some time. With er'ones advise, I was determined to find what was causing it, Im pretty sure this may be it.,,,gott

Tomorrow, I will be on my way to get all new hardware including the right pin and clips and some spacers

I bet that is the problem. The way the draft links are twisted would tend to cause a bending stress in the lift links. The turnbuckle lift link is likely fatiguing under the constant stress and eventually breaks.

AHA!!!. This is the first time I have been able to download the "twisting" pictures. It appears that the lower lift arms are in line with the tires, and not twisted, but are a lot farther apart than the upper arms, from the angle of the links, making the links wider apart at the bottom than at the top. I would reverse the lower lift arm pins on the boxblade so they point in instead of out to reduce that angle on the links.

It appears your boxblade may be too big after all, not because of weight but the spacing of the pins, possibly cat. 2 box on a cat.1 tractor. Cat. 1 lower lift arm spacing is normally 26". What do yours measure when hooked to the box?

went to the dealer today, picked up new turnbuckle and hardware. Came home and installed it. Went to raise 3 pt, and it tryed to stall the engine "again".
Pressure release would not disengage on the 3 pt. I got a tape measure and measured it to the center of the draft link pins. It measured 31 and 1/2" to center. This is the way the mechanic adjusted it. I located the adjustment and lowered it to 28", I am fixin to dig out my mannual and see what the exact specs are supposed to be. I also pulled the drag links inward as far as I could, this was 1 extra hole on each side on the Stabilizer brakets. It loos a little better, but still twists.

When at the dealer, I asked if they had another machine we could look at and compare. All there was on the lot with an attachment hooked up was another customers tractor. It was twisting, the same as mine, including the wear. I mentioned my concern and asked if it was right, or is there something that could be done. He just shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know, as far as he knew, it was correct and nothing wrong with it??

I cannot be sure from the pic you posted of lift assy. but it appears that you are missing one of the stop links I gave you the part # for on the right side and it appears that you have NO stop links on the left side with the bolt. The pin goes through one on each side of the turn buckle clevis at the bottom. There should be a total of 4 stop links. I may be mistaken as I cannot verify from the picture, but is sure does look that way. These stop links also limit the amount of twist you are referring to. Not sure if this has anything to do with the problem. Just an observation on my part.

Those stop links,,,,,are those the flat, sqaure, washer lookin things with the protuding tab that faces the top?
If so, I picked up 2 more today for the one side which was missing them. They didn't have em in stock so he took them off another machine. The new turnbuckle I picked up seems a lil different, less threads are exposed when adjusted to the same setting as before. I'll have to do some measuring tomorrow and see for sure. I feel I am going to have to make some mods to the boxblade, "add some spacers", the opening where the knuckle attaches is a good 6" wide, to me, this allows for to much movement. Although the stabilizers limit this movement, I feel its much better to not put all that stress on them "stabilizers" "sway bars". Evidentely, My owners mannual got put in cold storage, so Im at a loss as to the proper hieght for the 3 point, But if Im not mistaken, it was either 24" or 28"?? maybe I can find it on the JD site.

Without any implement attached to the 3-point hitch… does it do this?

Put the tractor on a level surface…

Is the right side even with the left side?

Standing behind the tractor, have someone slowly raise the 3-point hitch, and you observe both top yoke arms… does the left side “stop” when you get to the top and the right side goes another few mm?

Now, do the same thing, but look at the both bottom lift arms…

Hmmmmn, although I was lookin at it without the implement, I wasn't paying that close of attention, I think I know where your goin with this, I'll check it tomorrow, in general, it looked even, but I need a closer look.

Actually, its freakin me out, it did this stall at the dealer, he lowered the adjustment, and it was fine till the housing/turnbuckle broke. Today, I reasembled it with the new turnbuckle and took it for a test ride and it did it again.

I took it to the "level" driveway, raised the hitch and measured it, it measured 31 1/2"'s to the center of the end pin on the "draft link/drag link". My wife noticed it right away as I drove away. When I came back she mentioned how high the box was as compared to the last time it was in operation
I readjusted it down to 28" and its workin fine now, but I'll check for what you mentioned above.
I know that when it starts doing it, I can raise and lower it a few times and it will quit, until I raise it the next time, sorta stop and start syndrome.
I looked up the specs on the 3 point, pretty impressive, cant belive it can lift 2,000# plus,,,wow.
I think were on the verge of figuring this out, I apreciate all the help and I still can't belive my local dealer never expressed any concern or offered to help figure out what was goin on. I guess it was easier for him/them to just put it on me and keep collecting from JD for warranty repairs.
Watch for more "clues and mystery" right here on this channel, hopefully at 3 pm est standard tomorrow!!!

If this happens "also" without any implement attached to the 3-point hitch... it appears the rock-shaft assembly "internally" is maladjusted or not assembled correctly... (and when the dealer "rebuilt" this... could be compounded!) (if this is the same unit that "exploded"... so many things have happened to you... I'm losing track... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

Now... if you can figure out a way to charge... as in "Pay-per-view"... you may get this unit finally making money for ya... "uniquely- in a state of disrepair!"... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
