This all started spewing oil and gas out of the filler tube- low compression on 1 and 2, tore it all down thinking it was a head gasket only to find that the head bolt hole between 2-3 is cracked on both sides- and had been helicoiled at some point in the past. I can't imagine it holding torque - but I've never dealt with this before. Is the block taost or does anyone have any other ideas- I can't imagine I'm the only one who has had this- it is in a terribly weak spot above the water jacket for both cylinder- kindof hanging in air so to speak...This tractor was inherited so i want to get it going again but not in a position to spend a great deal either.

I did respond as I had contacted Soundguy through message, not sure what happened. Got an answer from an old tractor mechanic locally. Was indeed just a head gasket, said he had fixed "lots- dozens" of old ford 800, 600 etc with cracks in exactly the same spot and had no issues- some of them running for 20+ years that way. This lot almost always has -3 of these tractors on their lot so I figured they'd be a good source for parts if nothing else, got to talking to the guy and he enlightened me.
