Big deal. I live in Minnesota. That doesn't mean I eat lutefisk and play hockey

I was under the impression that you all ate large amounts of cheese......

The most fun I ever had was in the backseat of my dad's merc at the drive in.......

Reason for failure was playing on a drag strip. 1st run on 110 hp tune worked fine. Second run on 150 hp tune, the tranny did not like. I have been told that the allison needs to learn your driving habits and will handle the hp up to about 150 hp. Going to have built tranny installed on Tue.

The Allison is a good piece other than the junk cooler lines that leak still since the day it was introduced in a GM truck but does not take well to HP increases like the Torque Shift does. Stock form it does real well.

I have over 200 extra HP in both my F-250 and my F-350, pull heavy loads weekly with them, and take them to the track from time to time with no issues at all.

I have seen this to be true in my area as well. The allison is near bulletproof under stock and mild applications, as a farmer near me has a 1 ton chevy flatbed 4x4 with over 200k, with probably 150-160k with a large cattle trailer loaded behind it. No issues. Plenty of hot rod fords running around with very few trans failures. The local diesel mechanic replaces 3 allisons to every tourqe shift, but does admit they come out of trucks where they were heavily modified (big tunes) and maintenance was not the best.

Costs money to play:laughing:

Had a buddy that would rip on my Dodge untill: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/trailers-transportation/156138-just-poking-fun-not-bashing.html
Then a week ago had this Ford on the trailer

This one though is running fine. The wife wanted a work truck and said my dually was too much of a "pretty boy" so this was bringing it home to her.

That shouldnt make any difference to the tranny should it?

It was more a reference of not being too heavily loaded. He pulls a dump trailer and his toyhauler camper.

Man that is discouraging. What were the reasons for failure?

Not sure on the first one, second one, iirc had the driveshaft come apart on the highway and manged to get bound up and break the bellhousing. I just saw the tranny and was thinking ouch, whether it happened that way or not.

He's not a farmer so he isn't out using his truck like a tractor, that I know alot of people do. ie, I know someone that thinks dodge/cummins is the **** and likes to pull 2 or more loaded grain wagons out of the field in 4x4 low. iirc he blew the transfer case apart a couple of times. Maybe he learned.
