How can i reverse mow with LX279

I would really like to know how to disable the reverse stop. Can anyone tell me where the switch is and how to disable it? My old 316 never had it and I never hurt anyone or myself.

With the deck off sometime, trace the movement of the reverse pedal and see where it contacts the switch.
Then do what is necessary to move the switch or the contact so the switch isn't opened causing the engine to shut down. That is what I've done.

Do you not understand that you can use the RIO switch to mow in reverse? I am not sure of the exact setup on that unit, but usually there is a switch that you press as you go into reverse and it keeps the PTO engaged. On my 455 you pull up on the PTO switch, for example.

If John Deere thought you should mow in reverse they would have made it easy.

Try holding up the PTO lever/blade engagement lever, while pressing down reverse pedel.

Since my mower is still under warranty I haven't modified it. What works for me is slipping a Bic pen cap under the pto switch to hold it up. If you need to stop the blades quickly step on the brake pedal, this will shut off the pto and you will need to recycle the pto switch. This isn't the perfect solution but works well enough as the only time I seem to use the brakes is when parking the machine.

Yea right. I'm over 60 and have used all size tractors for over 50 years. My x748 is the only one that has this "feature" It drives me absolutely crazy that a slight touch of the reverse pedal disengages the blade. Clearly lawyer, not user induced.

On the 2 wire switch, remove the plug, install a jumper wire between the two wires on the plug.

Current ones are 3 position switch with the wires sealed to the switch. The switch needs to be locked in the middle position, I wrapped it with tape to hold it there.

Like AndyMA, I'm frustrated with an x740 disabling the blades when I reverse. Dealer told me to hold up the pto switch ... but with 8+ hours of mowing ... there's got to be a better way.
