What made you go with the JD vs the competition? I've spent the greater part of 3 weeks at the JD dealership, looking, reading and driving and had the pleasure of using a 3520 HST, 300X, Open station for a weekend and put over 11 hours on her. I really liked the tractor. I have since visited the competition and besides being cheaper I feel I can get more tractor standard, and more features that JD does not offer. So am I missing something?

Oh btw, I'm aiming for a Cab tractor, heavy duty loader/bucket, HST, 4x4 in the 35hp range plus or minus a few at around 3500lbs with cab.

I went with the 3720 cab because of the experience I had with the HST it replaced. That tractor was super reliable. It just needed twice the hp and a cab and it would've been perfect.;)Also had a great experience with the dealer which certainly helped. I do not want to start a debate over where all this stuff is made, but I wanted to buy as American as I thought possible. I also hold stock in the company in the hopes the my children will take an interest in investing(they love tractors and heavy equipment). Anyway so far I think this tractor is great. Like the cab, ergonomics, and seems to have plenty of power. So far my next tractor will also be a DEERE. Good luck with all the choices out there. There are some great tractors from all the brands.

Wow! 11 hours on a 3520...I think you answered your own question as to why you should buy a JD and if it was the dealer who loaned it to you buy from that dealer. That said here were my reasons for a soon to be delivered 3520 open station.

1. Dealer Dealer Dealer. I have 4 JD dealers within 30 minutes of my place and each treated me differently or should I say in some cases indifferently. The guys on TBN no matter the color of rig are all on the same page with this one & I hadn't even considered it before coming to this site.
2. Comfort, ergonomics. When there's work to be done you don't want to be uncomfortable. In my case the wife might be in the seat so HST was the only option
3. What was it that I needed to do around the place in order to match up power requirements;
4. Price does matter especially considering the amenities you are looking at but needs to be balanced against the other two issues above. Yes there are things standard on other models that I don't get or I have to pay for. Some are important others are not.

Yes I looked at Kubota and Kioti and 1 JD dealer actually sold Kubota but he was the indifferent dealer. Kioti was over 50 miles through metro one-way to get to dealer. I'm a newbie so having a good dealer was key to me when I have questions or need to learn about servicing.

Comfort ergonomics are good on most machines these days so it comes down to the little things for you personally to determine if its worth the extra cost. FWIW the JD Cab guys on TBN are swearing by and not at their cabs.

Jobs: I probably could have gotten by with a 2520 but I bought up to the 3x20 series since I got so much more and you just never know what will come up;

Price. The final price I got after playing the dealers off one another was 'in the ballpark' of my budget and on the day I signed they knock another $600 off to seal the deal. I had one dealer tell me to buy the 3520 from the other JD dealer because he couldn't touch the price. So that tells me my dealer of choice really wants my business and he has been flawless in following up on the order and keeping me in the loop.

Good luck with the shopping.

What do you mean by that?

As for dealers, JD, Kubota, and NH are all fairly close and mulitiple. My father, brother-in-law and myself have had dealings with them all in the past and all seem to be somewhat fair and service has been good. So for me, the dealer situtation is a wash, or atleast thus far on the surface...

Just buy the tractor you like best for the money you want to pay, thats all that really matters. :)

Are you comparing CAB to CAB Tractor or OS to OS tractor? Gave you tried to negotiate with another offer in hand? Prices seem to fall very quickly when you give a dealer something to look at and match or beat.

I bought the 3520 after looking at all of them that I could find to look at. When it came down to spending the money I looked for comfort and something I would like to operate. The layout of the 3520 seemed to have been setup by some one running the tractor and not someone just putting it here or there and making it work. The loader lever on the other models was just akward for me except for the New Holland. The hydro operation is a two pedal system which I like much more than the rocker pedal on the Kubota and MF. I can say I was leaning toward a JD from the beginning but I thought it was going to cost more than what I could do elsewhere and looked other places first. After trying them all out it was just the better machine and price difference was very little if any. Spend your money once and buy what you want, you don't want to be back here in 6 month's saying I whish I had "yada, yada, yada". All the machines are good, it is just what you like best.

Nothing meant other than if your test drive was 11 hours of seat time then you probably really liked it;(comfort, usability etc...) and second, if it was a dealer who let you test drive that long it must be a really good dealer. By comparison my test drive was about 20-30 minutes to compare against a 3320 in the dealers lot where he had rock and dirt piles to play around with. I'm pretty envious that you were able to spend that much time in the seat to 'try before you buy' especially when spending this kinda of money. Bota dealer let me take a Grand L down a short street...felt like I was driving in a ****** parade. :rolleyes:

All the Best

Nope...if price is what you want...then you should purchase the cheapest tractor. I have a JD because the dealership's parts department is about 2x larger than the NH dealer, and about 5x larger than the Kubota dealer. He sells 60% or more of the tractors in my area so he can afford the parts inventory.

One thing - if you're looking at a cab...you can't purchase more cab than what you'll get with the JD.
