how do I unlock the deck on my John Deere 1026

I just got my 1026 2 weeks ago and this week I didn't get to use it cause we had company all week and I went out to mow tonight and can't get the height adjustment to move. I have tried pushing down and turning, pulling up and turning, having the lift all the way up and all the way down and it still won't budge. What am I doing wrong?!

When the lift is all the way up, the weight of the deck should be off the height setting and it should move freely to any position. If it won't, I would suggest getting a mirror and light and see if there is something in the height setting mechanism underneath the tractor.

I finally figured it out, take my hand and lift up on the mower deck then the knob turns freely.

You shouldn't have to manually lift the deck to get the knob to turn. If it happens more than once, I'd talk to the dealer.
