How Do I Void My Yanmar Warranty?

Why would I want to do this? Precisely, I don't!

I'm thinking of installing a 3rd function bypass valve on my FEL, and my wife said to me the other day, "Hey couldn't that void your warranty if you do it yourself?" She's seen me pretty much void the warranty on everything I own by cracking it open and modifying it, or rather, improving its performance! :thumbsup:

I've also heard it said that using non-Yanmar branded fluids for your hydraulic oil changes will void your warranty. Does anybody have good info on this, or have you experienced warranty issues when making modifications or doing your own service?

I figure this could be an interesting thread...

I'd say if you buy the 3rd function valve from a Yanmar dealer and install it yourself you would NOT void the warranty.

Fluids of all types - as long as they meet or exceed the manufacturers specs - it WILL NOT void your warrantee. Magnuson-Moss Act.

Also, doing one thing doesn't void the entire warranty, especially for problems unrelated to the stuff you touched. For example if you install the 3rd function and the engine throws a rod. Totally unrelated, and they can't "void" the entire warranty because you touched something. The problem here is that the dealer can try it anyhow and then you have to fight it up through the regional rep and factory, and that does not work, in court.
