the easiest way for me is to bury it in the ground (about 18") and just unhook it. It stays upright and rigid and makes it easy to hook up the next time. BUT, it seems like it might just be begging for rust by leaving it IN the ground. I would like to hear some better ideas. How 'bout it guys?

Keith, I think you have a good plan in place. The rust should go away after pulling it several yards. Keep the flat iron painted and you should be good to go.

is a sub soiler as good as having a tiller with the exception of it taking longer to break up the dirt

Here's an old thread that might be useful. Link A middlebuster stand should work for a subsoiler, too. It's probably better if it's not stored in the ground, but if it's outside, it will rust anyway.

I have an old wooden hand truck that my subsoiler fits on. I store it inside and when I want to use it I wheel it out to my tractor. Works great.

Lean it against a stump. Works great. Cost effective too.

I use the high tech approach, and hold mine off the ground with a jack stand. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you want to keep it from rusting just spray a little Fluid Film on it. That'll keep it rust free until you need to use it again.

My tractor stays in the garage. Most of the attachments are on dollies. The house and garage are built of logs. For the combo subsoiler/middlebuster, I sank 2 eyelags into the logs, side-by-side, and just wider apart than the width of the toplink point on the plow. The tip of the plow sits in a drilled out hole in a large wooden block against the side of the log wall. The toplink then leans into the space between the eyelags. I slip a link pin through the lags and the toplink. Instead of a large clevis pin at the end of the link pin, I just slip in a padlock. Crooks ain't takin' it anywhere, and playin' kids ain't gonna' knock it over, break a toe, then get their parents to sue me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
