How do you remember setup tips/techniques for occasional/seasonal equipment installs?

Since my tractor has a tube for storing manuals, I print useful information (tire pressure, oil quantity & viscosity, filter number, etc.) on Avery brand Non-Tear sheets for copiers. Its waterproof paper that won't tear, and you can run them through any laser copier to print. The problem with using regular paper is that I invariably find a way to get it wet, dew, mist, and so forth. It would be easy enough to make a tube out of pvc pipe and use hose clamps to attach it to the ROPS.

Isn,t getting old great ??? On our last trip together, my wife says to me, I,ll remember who we are, and it,s your job to remember where we,re going, and how we get back again. LOL

No joke. Maybe Muhammad can create a 'Geriatric Tractor Owner' category.

But then we'd have to remember to read it.

You mean you guys actually remember what you did a year ago? Seriously?? Pffft! I can't recall where I parked the tractor (and I'm sitting on it!).

I keep all my manuals and instructions carefully organized in a file cabinet. However, I never get them out and read them. I prefer to bumble through things.
:drink:Real men never read the instructions.

there is a desk in the garage. though i never actually set down at the desk. it holds all the manuals. i say holds. nothing neat about it, manuals just shoved in a couple drawers. you can always tell last season, due to given equipment manuals setting on top of all the others.

my main problem are "belts" way to many pulleys.

the other problem are "grease zerks" it always seems there are a few i missed. on first pass and some times takes 3 passes pending on machine.

one of the greater annoyances, is special tools. from angle grinders to string trimmers, to allen wrench, that might require a star pattern vs generic wrench or screw driver.

==================
gave up on most part on marker and making notes on some equipment, it never lasts, and ends up getting rubbed off.

so wish, more manuals were put online, and more to the point placed in "HTML" format. so i could quickly bookmark pages. and have them at a few clicks without trying to remember the exact long name of some website. or username/password. really do not get the big deal of wanting PDF files. and some special application that requires username / password.

It's not so great for tractors, but I make it a habit of downloading the manuals of everything I purchase (if the manual is available for download.)
