Now that I have my 422 working hard, I find that my attachments are always spread around the garage and sort of in the way when not on the tractor. What methods are others using to store attachments when not in use? I am thinking that I could weld up a vertical rack to place them on when not in use. Has anyone tried it and do you have tips?

I have this on one of my sheds. I can only stack them 2 high because the PT will not reach higher. Although 3 high if you put the forks under one of the others with a pallet between.

The second picture is behind my new garage

Summer time:
Plow against back of garage.
Brush hog next.
Large bucket with small bucket and forks nested inside it next.
Back PT425 up to those with 60" finish mower attached facing out. Ready to mow!
Close garage door.
Takes up about 16' long by 60" wide.

Winter time:
60" finish mower and snow plow are swapped. Everything else in the same order. Ready to plow!

The beauty of the Power Trac quick attach system is that I can load or unload all of those attachments from the garage and set them on the driveway in about 2 minutes. No way, no how is any 3pt hitch tractor going to be able to move one of those attachments in two minutes, let alone five of them! :D And I never have to get off the tractor to move them.

One thing on the pallets, I looked on Craigs list and found someone getting rid of plastic pallets. They were Miller Beer pallets, very, very heavy duty. A buck a piece. I bought 15, wish I bought a hundred.

Anyway, I only say this cause my wood pallets deteriorated quickly. The plastic are super robust. My storage is parking everything under my carport. Keeps it out of the weather... One day I build a lean too of sorts (or a side pocket like Bobs) and palletize all my implements and heavy tools. put the welder, compressor, generator on pallets as well.....

I have mine in the garage also. I bought a furniture dolly for each one, about $15 at HD if I remember. I can now just roll them around as I need them. Pretty much keep them lined up against the wall. When I need an attachment I just roll it right in front of the pt plate and I'm good to go. Note that when you place the attachment back on the dolly a gentle touch is required!

I used heavy duty steel shelf racking inside my shop for implement storage (bought it used). The racking is 13' high x 8' wide x 4' deep. I can just barely get implements up on the 2nd shelf, but it seems a little risky so I fit everything either on the concrete or on the 1st shelf. I built a wood 2x6 stand-up rack to hold my post hole digger attachment. (see pics)

On concrete floor: 48" finish mower, box blade, rototiller
On first shelf: small bucket hidden behind large bucket, forks, mini backhoe
In wood rack: post hole digger
On PT 425: snow blade

Thanks for the replies. It looks like we all have the same issue, where to keep all the cool toys. I thought of shelves but was thinking of building my own out of steel conduit and a bit of welding. Maybe I'll get to it this weekend, if so I'll post pictures.

You might want to look for used pallet shelving- it is generally pretty inexpensive.

All the best,

Peter

I set up a used pallet rack inside the barn and another outside covered with a tarp. Only the bottom two shelves can be reached with the PT. Works pretty well. Because the mini hoe is 6' long, for Winter storage, i put it on a pallet, strap it and then put it on the second shelf of the pallet rack turned sideways.

At the end of the summer, i bought about 100 used plastic pallets that I use on the pallet rack as well as for things like my box blade outside and firewood, etc. The main negative to plastic pallets is that the plastic is slippery so i have to lightly strap some things to the pallet if moving it over rough sloped ground. Mine might not be as heavy duty as Carl's - mine are rated for something like 4500 lbs distributed load but if you step hard on the thinnest webbing where there are no vertical supports, you can break the webbing. I had better start laying off of the donuts.
