How dry I am...

OK, as of today (08/18) it has been 8 weeks since we got any measurable rainfall... I think the grass is beyond dormant, I'm not sure there's any left on the dirt... pumpkins, corn and tomatoes... well, forget it. The only thing growing is the potato beetles. At least the well is still ok.

anybody been dry longer?

There a brook at the bottom of our hill thats never ever dry up in the past 25+ years and now its bone dry..yikes..plus the small apples are falling also the leaves are turning brown.

Yep...same here in south central PA. York is ready to do water rationing.

I think the best we can hope for is a real snowy winter!

Up to some rain we had in June, we ony had 4mm in the preceeding 3 months.

We had 113mm (4+ inches) in early June and nothing since. But fingers crossed the next few days could see some good rain.

But yes, very very dry !!

My apples are falling too! One tree is in the fenced area where we let the dogs out. They are enjoying the more than occasional snack. It's too hot to be picking up apples! So far hundreds (wife was keeping count) picked up from the one tree. I'll get to the back 40 when the weather cools down.

Wife almost lost her herb garden when she went two days w/o watering it!

Anybody know how to do a rain dance?

Kinda ironic. For months I have been hoping for rain. I'm sitting here with my morning coffee, and the thunder and lightning are coming closer. The reason I'm up this early on a Saturday (05:26 local time) is so I can be in Harrisburg by 07:00 to replace a UPS. There is an existing system that needs to be removed. They are roughly the same size physically - around 12,000# of batteries/transformers/inverters and such. This has been planned for a couple of months, and absolutely must be done this AM.

You guessed it. The new UPS is arriving on two trucks. There's about 1/2 day's work outside to swap the equipment on our trucks with the existing equipment inside. No loading dock. How we picked a day with thunderstorms during an awful drought is beyond me............................chim

There are also areas of the Canadian Prairies that have not had rain for many a day. Many farmers have had to sell cattle for lack of feed. Their pastures are grazed down to nubbins.

We are dry also but not as dry as some of you folk,and the cooler temps have moved in and the peoples moods seem to be a lot better..like the guy the Lebanon Police arrested Thursday afternoon.
Started to rain here Thursday afternoon and some guy was so darn happy he drop his clothes and went dancing and jumping thru the Wal Mart parking lot..now thats what I call a rain dance..yikes /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

We have had here over 8" of rain in the last week and a half. The ground is still not saturated like you would think.

We got 67mm in the past week or about 2.5 inches for you guys.

Nothing much in the way of dam filling rain but much needed none-the-less.
