Looking at some of the photos you guys have posted recently makes me wonder if my blower isn't throwing as far as it should be. I have a 51" Meteor and it only throws about 10 feet, regardless of engine speed/PTO rpm. It makes no difference in the type of snow, so far anyway, it still won't throw any more or less than 10'. Is that just the way of the world for me and my BX1500? I am OK with it, but it sure would be nice not to have to keep blowing the same stuff over and again. Thanks for any input!

My old ford 48" rear blower would only throw about 10-12 feet. My new Kubota front blower B2782 throws 40+ feet. What a difference!

Have you adjusted the chute deflector angle? Your problem may be a small impeller that isn't giving you suffecient exit velocity. Not much you can do about that.

I have an old 60" Ford blower. The fan runs at 540 RPM and it throws around 10 or 12 feet too.

I think the front mount blowers operate at much higher PTO speeds and throw snow further. My Honda blower throws probably 30 feet. Higher fan speed should make it harder to plug with wet snow too.

I wonder if anyone makes a rear blower with a geared up fan?

Two good things I can say about the Ford:

1. It has been dead reliable since 1981.

2. By not throwing as far I don't get as much snow blown back on me. Sometimes I wish the Honda didn't throw so far.

I have a Ber-Vac 64" on the back of my Yanmar 2000BD and it will chuck the snow about 30 ft. I usually run the PTO on 1000 RPM though.

A two speed rear PTO would help a lot for increasing distance. None of my tractors have that option.

Try to speed up your ground speed. Blowers need to be kept loaded in order for it to throw the snow as far as possible. Just don't go too fast as to plug the blower up. Hydrostat tractors are PERFECT for blowing snow. My Meteor 68" has had no problem with dry or wet snow. There is a technique for blowing snow. Just try different speeds and keep your pto running at full operating speed.

My 2410 with a 60" Meteor will throw the snow 30 feet or more unless it is very wet & heavy.

I'm guessing that 51" on the rear of a BX1500 is quite a PTO load.

Make sure you're RPMs are at max!!!
