I'm looking for a good excuse to eventually work my way to a top and tilt. I'm currently moving lots of dirt and broken concrete to the lakes edge to stop erosion and fill some holes. I'm thinking of building a cart/loader that I can hook up to via the 3pt and quick hitch. Plan would be to load it with the loader, one load in the bucket, hook up to the cart, carry it to the site, dump the bucket then "tilt" the cart and dump it. Will a top hydraulic link give me enough stroke to accomplish this?

My plan is to limit the time jumping on and off and speeding up the hauling process.

It'll be similar to Carry-On Trailer Carry Hauler

Seems to me like it would be a pain hooking it up the the 3 pt hitch and unhooking it again on every trip. You would have to have it setup just perfectly to be able to put a bucket load of debris in it and not have it fall over and still be able to hook up to it with your 3 point without any problems. How far of a trip is it?

Not so much a matter of how far, but how much!! haha

I would hitch, unhitch via a quick hitch. I would also have "feet" to set it down on to hold it steady while I fill.

You are not loading with the tractor this will be on, correct? You are just asking with the tilt, tilt enough the load slips out? Is that correct? (I based this upon your equipment listed.)

I have a 3 pth bucket like a FEL and it uses a small hyd cyl to dump it with the 3 pth up. When the cyl is retracted and the lift arms down it tilts forward to keep the load in the bucket. If it has legs to hold it while loading, how do you lower and raise them without getting off the tractor, hyd cylinders?

He's going to have to get on and off the tractor to hook and unhook it when loading it. He is just looking to save getting off the tractor when dumping it. I think that the top link would work for that. You might have to get a little longer cylinder to make sure though.

I will NOT be getting on and off the tractor at ALL! I'm loading the cart with the FEL, backing up to it, hooking it up via Quick hitch. Driving to the unloading area and i'd like to stroke the hydraulic top link that would tilt the cart and dump. Then level it back out and drive back to the loading area. Release the quick hitch and lower it down (need legs/feet here to hold it's self off the ground enough for me to unhitch). Then repeat!.. Well that is the plan anyway.

My main concern is will the hydralic link have enough stroke to effectively dump the cart?

Full of marbles? Yes. Full of dirt? NO. To dump dirt, my understanding is that the dump bed needs to go to more than 45-50 degrees of tilt.

That is what I was looking at. So if I can get a dump angle of about 45 degrees I'll be ok.

Now to find out how much stroke I can get from a top link and to lay out the tilt....

Can you make a dump bed to fit the carry all with a pivot in the center and when you pull a pin it dumps? Would require a little longer bed so the load would cause the weight to make it dump.

Just a thought...
