How heavy/stiff is your clutch pedal?

My L4200GST clutch pedal is pretty stiff - depressing the clutch is definately a "whole leg" operation (like doing a leg press), as opposed to a 'pivot from the ankle' poke the pedal thing, like when driving a car. I had to move my seat up a couple of notches so I had a good platform to push against. It's WAY heavier than a typical car clutch pedal, that's for sure. I'm wondering if this is normal, or if I need to investigate the linkage for corrosion, lack of lube, or something similar.

I'd bet it's normal. I have a small Mitsubishi and it works fairly easy, though it's a bit tougher than a typical car pedal. I have a buddy with a larger Ford tractor. His clutch will wear out my left leg if I work it long. What you're likely feeling is the spring tension in the clutch pressure plate which squeezes the clutch disc to the flywheel. The more pressure that is applied, the less likely for the clutch to slip. Bigger tractors put out more torque, and consequently need more pressure in the pressure plate. Your leg has to overcome this spring pressure.

Heh, just work out more, or better yet, ride the tractor more and put in for field goal kicker with your favorite NFL team.

My L2800HST is just as easy as my 15hp mitsubishi gear, so the question is how long have you owned this tractor and has it been this stiff the whole time you have owned it??

My M9000 clutch is pretty stiff.

The clutch on my l4200 is fairly stiff too......

I am will to bet so to speak that the previous owner didn't use the clutch hardly ever since it is a Glide shift. If that is right, then the cable is corroded and needs something done to it.
