Snow Attachments How Important is Blade Curl?

/ How Important is Blade Curl? #11
Well all I can say is I run a 6ft meyers on my Kubota and the curl does roll the snow. You have to be in high range and moving pretty good but the tractor goes plenty fast enough to roll the snow off the curl.

curl is good... curl is yoru friend...

I would never run a plow on the front of the tractor without a trip spring of some kind...

Regards,
Chris

If you can't find a used truck plow, maybe you can find a ATV plow.
The 60 inch ATV plows do generally come with kick down springs like the big boys.

I use a 60 inch ATV plow but my tractors is just a BX2660 Kubota (48 inch width at rear wheels )
Even new ATV plows are under $1000

Curl isn't going to make a difference when using a tractor. I doubt you'll ever go fast enough with a tractor where the degree of the curl is going to make any difference what so ever.

I'm gonna disagree here. My kubota has a top speed of 8 mph WOT high gear. I can see snow curling at half speed of that from my plow.

Same here. My tractor will run about 17 mph but I usually plow the roads at 10 mph and can really see it working.

The curl definatally works even on a slow tractor.

AND its NOT just for when the blade is angled either.

When I use the tractor, I like to go in reverse with the blade spun around. Even with a straight blade, you can really see the curl working. The snow rolling off of it and back in front of the blade is pretty cool.

IF their was NO curl, the snow would just roll over the top and wouldn't be able to clear snow as effectively.

The OP says his blade is relatively flat, not flat. So it's got some curl, the degree of curl at low speeds really isn't going to make a big difference. The height of the blade will play a bigger part than curl.
