How is List Start List Item List End used

Can anyone shed some light on how
List Start
List Item
List End
is used on the TBN site? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Does this make sense. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
It adds the little square to left of each line. Each time you hit the List Item Icon. Then type what you want in the box.

Maybe I should have been more specific.
Click on List Start Icon.
Then Click on List item each time you want to start another line.
When all list items are done, click on List End Icon.
Be sure to read message in box when you click on List Item.
