How is the gather looking?

By "gather" I mean calf crop to be "gathered" for sale or shipment. I'm about 30 miles west of Louisville Ky along the Ohio River. The rain here has been timely, pasture has held well, we should get 3 cuttings of grass/legume hay. South and West of here things are very, very dry. I have a very poor calf crop this year. No where near the 30 day calving window I plan for. Very scattered out. I'll have some weaning weights near 700lb but nothing like the 820lb i had a few years ago. How do things look in your neck of the woods?

We had a dry spring & dryer summer. Average calf crop this year but weights after weaning are down 6-8%. Pasture land is down 50-60% due to unseasonable drought & wild fires. Many have started a feeding program already - we'll have to import extra hay for winter feeding. Many will get only marginal second cutting and many more will not get third cutting. Irrigated pasture land and hay crops will bring a premium price. This info is for NE WA state.
