How long before you acquired your first dent?

Had my Cub for almost 6 years and it was immaculate until.... I backed away from my loader and caught the left arm with my grill!!! Unfortunately, the grill is plastic and it cracked (about 4"). I am not sure yet on how to fix it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I guess you mean how long before I acquired my first dent on "my tractor". Otherwise I'd have to say it was the second day. I put I nice little dent in my metal garage with my loader. A little dent with green paint smeared on it. I've left it there as a reminder to be careful, and of what a dumb##s I can be when I get in a hurry. I've lost count on how many trees I've dented.

Well, it was not a dent but I did scrape the paint on the hood about day three, pulling a large fallen branch out of a tree. Chet

About a year. Then one day I lifted the front end loader a little too high with a little too much firewood and BANG! A sickening little dent in the hood of my pride and joy.
I still kick myself..

At 36.8 hrs. Was lifting a large metal ring with the FEL when it slipped and scraped the paint on the hood. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I know how you guys feel and I don't even have a shiny new tractor (yet ). I do have an old '53 jubilee that I'm somewhat proud of. Last summer I stopped bushhogging to move the sprinkler on my newly seeded for the third time lawn. Parked the tractor crossways on a slight incline. Big hurry. Much work to do. Left tractor running, out of gear, did not set brakes. Made SURE tractor was not rolling before I jumped off. As I ran to move sprinkler, heard this noise. Turned around to see tractor and bush hog gaining speed as they headed down the hill. Then this horrible crash as tractor impacts a very large and unforgiving tree. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Luckily, impact was off center. Had to pay stupid tax of $950.00 ./forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Another lesson learned the hard way. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

How about replacing that plastic grill w/ some wire cloth.. comes in stainless steal.. different gauges.. gap sizes.. I believe most grills use the expanded metal sheeting. The company I work for makes/manuf. wire & wire cloth (some is like fencing). I never knew how much is made w/ wire cloth.. from the inside of flashlight batteries, coffee filters, hydrolic & oil filters.. to that lonely jail cell.

My Power Trac PT425 would be hard to dent. All plate steel, no sheet metal anywhere. However, like Herbenus, I managed to put what I like to call an "air hose pass through port" in the side of my garage with the toothed bucket shortly after I bought it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

For me it was about 2 days (11.5 hours on the tractor). I was brush hogging in tight woods and ran forward over a green Doug Fir limb. It broke the left headlight and dented the left front corner.
