When cranking your Yanmar with decompression on. How long does it take for your tractor to get oil pressure?

I don't know anything at all about Yanmar, but cylinder compression has nothing to do with oil pressure. Oil should start getting pressurized as soon as the oil pump starts pumping. Depending upon how the guages are wired the guage may not show pressure until the key is in the run position. If you have low oil pressure it is usually one of three things:
Bad sending unit/guage
Bad oil pump
Worn main bearings
Bad sending unit/guage
Bad oil pump
Worn main bearings

What I do on my ym2000 is count by thousands 1onethousnads 2 onethousands Etc. On a cold start the average is 6onethouands. to 8 onethousands for my oil pressure light to go out or the pressure to come up.
every motor or tractor will be differnt but you can find your average and use it to tell yourself if it is starting to take longer or even shorter to come up.

I think what he is asking is how long do others crank their Yanmars with the decompression lever pulled before the oil pressure light goes out and the lever is released to allow the engine to start.

I usually have to roll mine over twice (maybe 4-5 seconds each). Then usually when rolling it over the third time the light goes out and I release the lever and let it start.

Don't wear a watch and It's just two Blazing Hot for the seat time I have today on the JD 5103. It can wait until late this Evening. I was just curious how many Sec. 6 onethousands is. 4 Sec. the way I do it. Thats Unreal for a Original Mid 70's Model Motor. Just goes to show the Quality of the 2TR20A 2-Cyl. Yanmar Engine. IMO take care of it and it will take care of you. :thumbsup:

Thanks Careyo63. 8 one thousands is how long my 240 takes. I thought something was wrong with. I'm still amazed how much power the Tractor has. The only limit is traction, I can't wait to load tires. Regards

My 1500 pressure is up to 40-50psi before I release decompression level to start.
