I have decided on a tractor. A Branson 4220 with FEL. The dealer has one on his lot but it has 5 hours on it. When I went to his lot he welcomed me to test out the tractors out back and move dirt around, etc. I assume these hours are from customers doing that. Should I worry about these hours or should I get some sort of discount because of them? I am sure the tractor will be good for thousands of hours so I am not worried it is wore out but it just kind of bugs me.

5 hours is not big deal and not the least bit unusual on a new tractor. Often they are tested out a little before they are sold to assure all the hydraulics are working properly and the tractor has appropriate driveability. If there were very close to zero hours, say 0.1 or 0.2 then I would worry more.

Most things that are going to fail because of manufacturing problems will be obvious in the first few hours.

It it didn't have a little time on it, the dealer wouldn't be doing his job of making sure everything was correct before delivery.

If you think 5 hours on a new tractor is unusual, you ought to buy a "new" motorhome sometime. 800 or more miles on the odometer is quite common because they drive them to deliver them to the dealers. And like the other guys mentioned, I wouldn't care if they demo'd the tractor I was buying and ran it enough to be sure there was nothing wrong before delivery.

Don't worry about 5 hours, did u ever buy a new car with 0 miles on it? as long as u have the warrenty it should not even be a consideration.

I sure wouldn't worry about 5 hours. In fact others have posted here and ocmplained about 14 hours on their new New Holland. New Holland wants their tractors to be dyno'ed out before they leave the dealership. People testing them out on the lot sure won't hurt the tractor.

If they do, there must have been something wrong with it and I'd want it fixed before delivery. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sounds good. I was just worried there might have been 20 different people driving it who didn't know what they were doing and maybe they messed something up, rode the clutch, etc.

My CK20 had .8 hours on it. Never a problem at over 100 hours now. Gerard

Per the floorplan finance agreements they are considered new up to 15 hours.
