The newer JD loaders and backhoes have replaceable hyd cylinder pins. I don't recall a discussion (coulda been and I was asleep) regarding average replacement time .

Anybody replace the loader or backhoe pins on their tractor and how many hours did you have before doing it?

Thanks in advance.

Any hydraulic cylinder pin is replaceable just because they are separate from both the cylinder and mount; "replaceable" is nothing new unless you mean bushing, not pin. In either case, bushing/pin life is COMPLETELY dependent on the operating conditions and frequency (and quality to a lesser degree) of greasing. Predicting pin/bushing life with any degree of accuracy is impossible. Any grease is better than no grease.

AKfish,
I have a little over 750 hrs on the 110 of which virtually all of these hours are fel and backhoe jobs. The pins and bushings are still in good shape and I use the red marine grease for everything.

Thanks, Rick. Should have been a little more specific - bushings. I realize there's no "set rule" given the different condition's that folk's use their equipment.

Was hoping to hear some varied background use information. Clean out the dairy barn.. or build sub-division roads.. and such.

Steve, I'm edging up on 800 hrs now with my 110. I'd guess that it's a 75-25 split on the time between the loader and the hoe.

I grease things liberally with the JD black Moly stuff. 'Course the loader and bucket has got more "play" than when it was new..

Just interested in hearing of other's experiences.

I've heard of turning the pins. I assume this means 180 degrees and will give a new surface to wear. Are the pins softer and meant to wear and be replaced?
