How many hours on your CPAP-BIPAP machine?

I have 25,313 Hours on my Resprionics C-Flex machine with just routine maintenance (filters and of course new hoses and masks). The Fisher-Patel humidifier is original too and still on my original water container. It's 15 years old and runs lik a top....:thumbsup:

My Fisher Paykel died 10 years ago, after five years of use. Actually it did not die, it just became very, very noisy, and they could not fix it

Fortunately, my benefits plan at work pays for a new one every five years, so I bought another one. That lasted for another five years, and still worked fine, but I was allowed a new one. So, I took the old one to the cottage, and now I don't have to worry about remembering to take them back and forth. The ewest one I do not like as well as the last one, so I swapped them, and now I have the older one at home, and the newer one at the cottage. I use the CPAP every night religiously, and it really does the job. I don't know where I would be today if this technology did not exist. Great invention!

I'd sure like to know what the expected life actually is, I'm sure mine is well past it's prime...lol

I have 3 other machines as well. One just for hunting trips that has a solar charger and Li-Ion battery pack for my out west horseback hunts, another C-Flex but newer and another thats still in the box, so if my old Betsy dies, I have another....

Since I've only had my Philips Respironics REMstar Pro C-Flex+ with a Philips Respironics System One Heated Humidifier for about 6 months, I've wondered how long they last. With Medicare, I often do not understand their reasoning, but anyway, everything is "purchased" except the CPAP device itself. It's "rented" at $56.03 a month for 13 months, after which I'll own it. I have no idea whether or when Medicare would approve paying to replace it, but just hope it lasts a long time.

Do they become noisy? I guess if mine does, my wife will tell me so, but when I take my hearing aids out, I won't hear anything quieter than the dog barking.

Respironics M-series Remstar Plus, 20430 hrs so far...

The power connector on the heated humidifier control board toasted itself a month or so back, shutting down the humidifier element. Desoldered the header from the board & clipped the connector from the element wires so I could then solder the wires directly to the board. Works fine again now. I had checked on-line first, and found it is a fairly common failure for that model. Also that it is a discontinued item, considered non-repairable & $450 for a "new old stock" replacement. I found a few posts from folks who had repaired their own with good result so I went that route.

I guess I am unlucky with C-PAP machines. I have never had one last more than about 4 years and I use it every night. I had the card short out in one, bearings go out in 2. They start squalling a bit for a few days before completely failing. Nothing in them can be repaired, at least that is what the companies said to me. Seems like a computer card would be replaceable but NOT>

21,000 and some change on the Respronics. It still works well. I have no idea how long they should last.

Mine usually last about 5 years - but they don't catastrophically fail, something just quits working.

The 1st one the on-off button quit working. Plug it in, it works, unplug it to turn it off.
The 2nd one started making a lot of noise - and as mentioned, they cannot be repaired. So we managed to talk them into replacing it.
The 3rd (current) one has started squealing after about a month. No idea how long it will last now, our first bad luck with a CPAP.

I think the CPAP onlin stores sell componnts like pumps and such. Mine has a seprate (Fisher Paktel 'Patel') humidfier so it has it.s own heeatr and controls and plus into the wall seperatley.

I guess I got a good one to last 15+ years.....

I lik th fact that (thanks to the Internet) I can set the pressure myself without a costly sleep study visit. Last time I had a titrated study done, I cleaned out CPAP.com. Bouught multiples of masks, hoses, headgear and filters for about 20 years plus my travel machine, battery pack and charger. My BCBSMM paid 95% of the cost. Wanted to get it handled before Ovomotacare........

I don't think I could function long term without a machine......

Bird... Not that at our age we worry about it much but I have found out over the last 15 years that it's one of the best sex preventers ever invented. I put on my mask and it 2 minutes, I'm gone............
