How many hours on your Montana

Hey All,

I was interested in how many hours you may now have on your Montana, what you use it for and what model you have.

I have a 5740C that I use for Brushhogging the pastures, usually twice a year but with all this rain in Texas now, this year looks like it'll be three times. I also use it with the FEL for dirt and road work on my place, along with using it for other general needs. So far, I have 184 hours on mine and I really do enjoy using it.

Only about 31 hours on my 2740 so far. I bought it in April, but between the rainy weather and a foot injury, it's been parked in the barn with the others most of the time. Looks like the weather man will be nice to us this week, so maybe i'll start to catch up on a few things. I bought the 2740 to do the small tasks on my tree farm here on the coast, while using the 40+ hp tractors for the bigger stuff, but I'm finding the little Montana is willing and capable of most anything I need to do.

Most of the 30 hours on the meter have been running an old 5' brush hog I have. I sure didn't expect it to do well on these wet, steep hills here, but I have been very surprised and pleased with it so far. Two small things bug me a little about the 2740: Non foldable ROPS and a lousy seat. I am 6'2" and 250 lbs., and after about 30 minutes in the seat, my tailbone is poking through my hat.

Looking into a suspension seat of some kind. We have a great Montana dealer here too, (Ag-Bag Forage Solutions) so I'm happy. Keep up the good work, Maka, I always look forward to reading your posts.

I have a 5740C with about 250 hours. I bought it in May 2005. I use it for mowing my vineyard, spraying with various 3pt tanks, mowing my pastures, transporting heavy loads around the farm, with a grapple when clearing brush. I also build houses and develop land and use it for that too. Most of the big stuff I hire larger crews for, but I do some of the smaller tasks like upkeep, landscaping, repairing erosion, etc. So far it works great. A childhood friend of mine who owns a maching shop tells me that I am the most destructive person he has ever met. Most of my attachments (box blade, 7' brush hog, etc) are beat to **** or missing parts. The tractor, though, has been holding up well to my 'demanding' nature.
