Buying Advice How Many of you bought a BX TLB and then..

I was in a similar situation, and got a BX24. After I got it, I mostly wished I hadnt waited so long to take the plunge, as I found the loader and backhoe extremely useful for maintaining and improving the property. The power of the backhoe on the BX is nicely sized for that weight of tractor, and you can do a lot with it.
you can really do a lot with the BX, and its not likely to sit if you have a long list of projects to tackle. You probably wont get much discouragement on this forum for buying a tractor. But you can also get a lot of good advise here to help you get the proper one that is best suited for the jobs you want to do.
I agree. Same for me with my eventual purchase of a BX25 last year.
This is one of the biggest problems of picking the right equipment is, for me, I didn't know most of the jobs I was going to do until I got a tractor and found out what it was capable of doing. The more I found out it would do, the more things I got into doing and it just goes on and on and then the BH opened up another new world of jobs for me after I got it. (And my family that are my neighbors)

I'm looking at getting a BX25
*So how many of you buy one of these tractors (or similar) and end up using it for a few months to play around with and then it sits because you get bored with or don't enjoy using it as much as you thought you would?
As you can see from the above replies that will never happen .
I have thanked my self over and over again for not buying a tractor without a BH .
I have had my BX23 TLB

for 7 years .
I just leave the BH on because I'm constantly finding uses for it.

As a relatively new bx25 owner i agree with these posts. I wanted a do all machine to maintain my 2 acres and driveway. I had a couple days worth of digging for the backhoe right away.
I still use bh occasionally its there when i need it. I absolutely love this tractor.
Will probably never mow again without ps and diesel!! Lol, i tell my wife just what i save in gas pays for my tractor. Hahaha
You find uses you didnt think about before you had it. I cut 10 cords of logs and never had it so easy between my stihl361, homemade log splitter and of course the bx to pull logs off pile, keep them off the ground, fel to log splitter. My bx25 is part of the family and invaluable.

Happy tractoring.

It sounds like if you buy a Bx you won't use if for mowing. You might want to rethink that, the Bx also makes a great mower.

With 7 acres there is no chance you will get bored with tractor. I have 6 probably 4.5 is woods and I cant believe I did not have a tractor for the first two years.

A tractor without a BH will set around more than one with a BH
Because it is limited to the task it can handle due to the lack of a Back Hoe.

I put at least 300+ hours a year on my BX24 between winter snow plowing (1/4 mile gravel), grading, log skidding and splitting, chipping, food plot plowing, brush cutting, trench digging, etc...

Have you done a task breakdown to figure out how it will make your life easier?

FYI: My backhoe sits on the cradle for 50 weeks out of the year. I love having it, but I don't use it that often.

I bought a 2660 a couple years ago and assumed I could hire/rent a BH when I needed one. That is correct, but as noted, the tractor sits more than I would like and I am having to co-ordinate work with excavation contractors rather than saddling the tractor up and going when I need to. So, I'm waiting for a price on a Woods BH6000 to fit the 2660 but I'm also going to look at pricing on a trade for a BX25 as well as for a B26/2920. I have zero complaints with the BX at this point. It's a great piece of equipment!

At this point I think you need to be able to handle dirt from both ends.

I don't think you can go wrong with the BX25. From my experience on a BX24 & all the happy owners out there, this alone tells you that you are getting a great tractor.

Hi, just signed up. I live on 7 acres. Approx 2 acres are 'lawn', currently have a Cub SLT1554 that mows it fine. Wife uses it, guess I messed up mowing 1 time to many
Anyway, the other property is pretty overgrown with everything from saplings to decent sized cedar etc.
I'm looking at getting a BX25 to take care of things i have to do, such as digging for a few hundered feet of retaining wall, digging out stump, loading up branches from tree trimming, leveling 200' drieveway, extending paitio, etc, etc.

I think you are much more likely to find people that bought a BX planning to do a couple of projects and sell it, but after using it, found they just couldn't do without it.
