2-5 hp will spin your engine without any difficulty. But get the reduction ratio down so the engine turns "comfortably". Of course, more is better, this IS America!
Starter motors are typically around 2 kw. So It doesn't take a lot to spin a 30 hp tractor engine.
I've thought of an axillary belted to the flat belt pulley on the Fordson, but so far, that gas engine has started in every weather. ;-)
