How many RPM\'s when running winch ?

Just bought a Farmi logging winch (351 P) last week and can't find anywhere in the manual the exact RPM to use when winching logs.
Anybody have an idea ?

I had a 351P and ran it at various speeds depending on what I was pulling. Remember it is not a cuttin gdevice so exact speeds are not important. I would start off some where about 300 PTO rpm's to get used to it and then increase it toward 540 to get more pull and faster speeds as you get used to it. go slow at first, you'll be suprised at how fast it'll pull the logs into you.

Depends. I've found that you don't need to run the engine at "PTO" speed unless it's a huge honker of a tree you're trying to winch in. Usually a fast idle works for me. Except on rare occasions I rarely exceed 2k rpms when using the winch.

I have a small Farmi winch that is approaching 20 years old.

On the Ford 8N I had great results around 1200 - 1400 RPM, I could pull the front end of the tractor off the ground.

On the Kubota L3000DT I run it around 1500 RPM with almost the same results as the Ford.

I added a heavy duty bracket used for BH applications to my 3PH mount on the Kubota. The winch puts a tremendous strain on the top link when it is pulling.
