Just Curious how much Ballast weight you guys with 2520's are putting in the JD ballast box? I've got about 1,200 Lbs of Lead in mine now but I haven't been able to work it real hard yet to see if thats enough.

Just wondering what you guys added, I Smelted lead and made blocks of lead that weigh like 40-70 Lbs each depending on size!

That should work real good - I use the backhoe typically along with loaded tires (rim guard)

If you can measure the weight accurately enough, why not test how much it will lift? My guess is more than the rated 1,150 :)

That sounds like a good amount of ballast... I would be safe with that. My FEL is yet to be tested with the little jobs I've used it for. So I've only run a box blade that weighs approx 750lbs w/weights on the back. If I were going to work it more... I have another 200-400lbs I could load the BB with.

That sounds like a lot of ballast.

Right now I just have a box blade hanging off the back that weighs around 450lbs. I probably need to add some more weight, but have yet to use the loader for anything very heavy.

Our 2210 had around 1,000LBS or maybe more in it and that just barely held it down totally!

So far this is holding it well, but its only got 1 HR on the hour meter. It hasn't gotten above 15 Degrees F here in a week!

That should leave plenty of room in that ballast box for tools, chains, etc. I cut 1000 pounds of steel plate to fit in my JD bal box, which leaves about a foot depth available as a tool box. I also made a steel cover for the box that keeps every thing dry and happy. My ballast box stays on all the time as this is a loader tractor. Total weight is probably about 1200# with the chains, tools, and cover. This feels like the perfect ballast for the 4310. Greg.

The lead on my box only covers about 4 inches of the bottom! :D Its some heavy stuff! I have the box full of chains, chainsaws, hatchets, splitting malls, rope, small cooler!

It might say what they recomend in the manual I think thats where I got the "at least 725 lbs" Idea for my 4110.I ended up making a weight that wieghs about 800lbs and it seems to be enough.
