How much can you tow with GC1700 in low-range?

I have moved many trailers around weighing 4-6K on level ground. Trailers were equal or slightly greater than tractor weight. Towing a trailer on level ground isn't a problem but as oosik said stopping a tractor on a hill or grade is where you you will have problems.

I pulled my daughters Volkswagen New Beatle (dead bug lol) up our gravel driveway. Not a huge amount of weight I know but the tractor pulled it effortlessly.

Have drug a few trees also but that's a whole different ballgame.

The boat ramp; how steep is it and will the tire's be the under water. That is the area where traction will be critical.

I've towed ~10,000 with my previous Kioti LB1914 which is a ~20hp tractor. As it sits in the picture it weighs ~4,000 pounds. So about 2.5x the tractors weight. At that weight it required 4 wheel drive to go up a loose gravel driveway with 5% grade. As long as you can get traction the tractor should be fine. Some tractors do have draw bar tongue weight limits - so good to check what that is.

Thanks for the advice guys. Will give it a go this week. boat ramp isn't very steep so should be fine. Should get the FEL before end of this year for the ballast, it will be more useful than weights I think.

Just one quick thing. If you are on a non-slip surface like blacktop or concrete, you're not recommended to be in 4wd.

However if you are not in 4wd your front wheels do NO breaking, so if your rear wheels get light. . . . You have no braking unless you are in 4wd.

I towed the float around our section yesterday in 2WD on grass in low range and it went without any problems. It would be at least 1500# by itself.
