I got a best price of $6895 all inclusive for the NH 757C backhoe from the 3 nearest dealers. Is this competitive?

I also found a very slightly used BushHog 750 with new subframe mount for ~$5000 total but I don't like what I read here about removing 3PH lower arms on the BushHog and Woods. I want to be able to drop the backhoe and pick up my cutter as rapidly as possible.

Any comments about ease of mount / dismount or digging power of the NH 757 versus the others would be welcome.

Wow...those things have really increased in price. Last year they were $5,825.00 if you bought it when you purchased the tractor. A friend of mine priced one without buying a tractor, or other implement, at $6,200.00. I know the price of steel has increased but that jump is pretty steep.

Which dealers are you shopping with? I've had back luck with several NH dealers in the ATL area. Call Phil at Superior Equipment in Newnan he has the best prices I have found around ATL. (Legal Disclaimer ...I have no fiancial, or other interests with Superior Equipment)

BTW....I have a 757-C on a TC-35D and love it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't have the figure in front of me, but that seems about what I paid for my 757C. I can check this evening. I've only had about an hour on the unit and I new to BHing, so I may not be a reliable source. It is really easy to use and only requires a little operator training /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. Removal was pretty straight foward, following the manual. I haven't tried mounting it yet, so can't commit on that.

What isn't in the manual is the important step of reconnecting the 3pt after you remove the BH hose and before you start the tractor. See this thread

Phil is indeed significantly cheaper. And he has them in stock. And he is eager to please. Thank you for the tip!

Glad I could help. Phil is a good person to deal with. Just be patient with him. He is a one man show. Owner, operator, salesman, parts man, and service manager. He will work with you on the price. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Only problem is that last week he said he would put it on this week, then I didn't hear from him at all so I called him, and he now says he can't get to it until next week. Maybe he isn't so eager to please after all.

Anybody know how much work is involved installing the subframe and hydraulic kit for the 757C? Maybe I can do it myself.

Phil is a really good guy. As stated previously he is a one man show. He takes on so much he may drop the ball on things here and there. I don't know if he can't find good help, or if he just can't give up some control.

I don't think installing the kit on the tractor is a big deal. By looking at mine it's several brackets mounts etc. Some of the mount bolts are prety good size, so you would need a good 1/2 drive socket set. The power beyond kit for the hydraulics looks like it would be a piece of cake to install. I think the problem would be handling the backhoe itself when it's not attached to the tractor. It is such an irregular shape trying to lift it for transport could be a problem. If my memory serves me correct I believe it tips the scales at 800 to 900 lbs. Of course you could pick up the kit, install it on your tractor, then go pick up the backhoe. It will probably take you 30 minutes to hook it up the first time. After a little practice you will get it down to 10 to 15 minutes. You have a TC-33 correct ? I have a TC-35, and you are welcome to come look how it mounts. I can't see where it would be a big difference between the two tractors.

I take it you are on the F-22 program at Dobbins. Do you work for Lockheed -Martin ? I work for the major airline in Atlanta and was involved in the L-1011 program for years. I still have many friends at Lockheed-Martin.

Yeah, Phil and I made a deal today and I'm gonna pick it up and install it myself. He seems like a good guy and tries hard to please, maybe to the point of getting over committed. I was just disappointed because I've got a concrete guy waiting for me to level the site for a new workshop and he's getting impatient with me.

I have to go about 3' down on one end to level it and I was counting on getting the backhoe quick. I've dug out similar before with just the loader (7308 w/ welded-on 2A teeth) but it just bangs the snot out of the loader and tractor (TC33D) to go that deep in this rocky, rooty, brick-hard GA clay.

I much appreciate your offer. I don't expect I'll get stuck but if I do I'll give you a shout.

I've been at Lockheed since 1975, in CA till 1991 then GA. I much prefer GA. F-22 is a hot ship and now that it's in rate production we get to see a pure vertical climb-out a couple times a week. Leaves the little F-16 chase in the dust.

I used to know some folks at Delta but I've unfortunately lost touch. I do fly Delta almost exclusively because they still have the best service and of course they're the home team. I sure hope your new CEO turns things around.

Thanks again,
Bruce
