How much lift capacity to lift a ton of pellets with forks?

My DK5010HS picked up and moved pallets of wood pellets. I had loaded tires a mower on the back for ballast. My friend and neighbor with an NX5510 open station moves pellets with his with rear ballast and no issues.

This is good to know.I was just a Kioti dealer and he told me he did not think it would lift it. He had none of this platform in stock right now but coming. This is a great help.

Having sold forklifts I know a bit about forks and loads.

Ratings are always given at a specific distance from the wheels (axle).
An example might be 2000 lbs at 24 ", if so then the moment is 48000 so at 12" you can lift 4000 lbs then again at 48" the limit would be 1000 lbs.

This is the same formula used for balancing aircraft with the firewall* generally given as the datum.
With an aircraft it is critical to prevent stalling while with a forklift it is to prevent tipping nose forward.

With tractors and forklifts hydraulics also can be limitations but generally it is a safety thing. Hydraulics can always be boosted via the PRV adjustment.

I am currently looking at two tractors. A Kioti nx6010hc and a Mahindra 2655. The Kioti has a rating of 2700 and the Mahindra has 3150. Both dealers tell me the tractor can carry a ton of pellets. When the weather breaks I may ask to try on to find out. The forks really cut back what I can lift. Both are nice tractors but leaning toward the Kioti but lift strength is a concern?

I have a 2012 kioti DK40 and it will lift/move 1 ton of wood pellets I have KL401 front end loader..Make sure to buy a ballast box plus loaded tires.Don"t forget to factor in the weight of the forks..R4 tires will work better than R1ag tires.I have ag tires but just add more air pressure when unloading my wood pellets..

I would think either would lift that load. When we used pellets for bedding I bought them by the pallet, 50 bags at 40# each so 1 ton total. My forks are 48" SSQA rated at 3000#. My TC40DA with the 16LA FEL rated at 1500# at the pins would not lift it off the trailer until I threw the top 2 layers or 10 bags off. The pallet was plastic wrapped so I would tilt the load back slightly over the pins and it would come right off the trailer.
