How much of bird feed do you go through every winter?

/ How much of bird feed do you go through every winter? #41
When the wife was alive and before that when the kids were here too, I fed out a lot of Niger seed, Sunflower and regular bird seed....water as well. Still put the Wren houses up each Spring. ... have literally dozens of Eastern Blue Birds...........but No Cats.

Now, I just watch whatever comes around, and enjoy. Those birds were here long before feeders and will be here when I'm gone. Saw a pair of Bald Eagles the other day.............that was a "first" for me.

Cheers,
Mike

We had snow for about two days. It definitelly increased number of birds on the feeders and we could see them being emptied to about a half. The snow is gone now so are the birds. I am replacing only suet cakes every few days because they are eaten mostly by woodpeckers. I will keep the feeders filled till April and then I will put the leftover feed to a container and put it in the prarie for deer and squirels to finish it.

Got a 50 pound bag from Amazon ($83 ouch) but the birds do love the sunflower hearts.

I picked up 40 lb bag at Costco. . . I don't recall what I paid and can't find the receipt but it was nowhere near $83.
