Mahindra 6025 - It SUCKS!
How much time have you had in downtown from warranty work or waiting for work on your Mahindra?

Lets say for the first year and then the first two years?

Thanks.

My first purchase, a 7520 4x4 back in Dec of 2004 and with my second purchase of a 3215HST in Dec of 2008, I have had Zero mechanical down time. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I sure am happy with my 2 Mahindras. :D

I'm guessing that you are still having problems?

Yes, we are having more problems with ours.... I wasn't trying to start anything or post details yet, but just looking into how many problems there were with these tractors.

The problems had already started the last time we had a problem and we were told not to worry about it by the dealer it was normal. Well.... we have major problems now with it. I am holding off on details and we are trying to get all of our problems fixed amicably this tractor has good power and potential but I think we just got a bad one.

Apparently we have the very first 6025 that was delivered to a customer also we use it every day so it has the most hours of a 6025 that is out there.

The part that is disheartening is we traded in a Ford(New Holland) that we had for 15 years and it was down for work less time than this one has been in the entire 15 years. That tractor was half the size and did the same work other than running a brush hog once a month on about 10 acres of land, so it isn't a harder working thing. The tractor lives its life carrying muck and haring arenas most of the time.

6520 4WD w/ ML275 loader and Bradco 511 backhoe, I bought in 2007. It has approx. 480 hours now. Down one day while I went into Houston to Mahindra's parts warehouse and got a new hyd. pump pulley & belt at about 300 hours. This breakdown was when I was on vacation, digging my pond and I was racing rain to finish. Otherwise I would have let my dealer get the pulley their normal way in about 2 days.
My backhoe had too much play (under 100 hours) in the boom and the dealer had it ready when I wanted to pick it up, I think that was a week. So they had it 5 work days.

Well... It looks like ours will be home by next weekend. The good news is they are fixing it under warranty the bad news is they are just doing a rebuild and not replacing any of the hard parts. This is very disturbing to me.

Ours has been down for warranty work for the following. I may be off a little on some of this, as it is quickly from memory.

First weekend of ownership the draft control valve was faulty from the factory.

Two and 1/2 weeks.

The steering knuckle and hydraulic ram pulled lose.

Two weeks.

We have replace the steering knuckle many times, as it was breaking once a month until they redesigned the ball joint. The new one has last lasted a while. (We don't ask to warranty this item any more as it isn't worth it)

The PTO wouldn't work.

We called our local dealer and it was going to be a four week wait to get into the shop just to get it looked at. We took it to another dealer and they "fixed it" and said it wasn't warranty. We paid them ~$1100 and brought the tractor directly to where we needed to brush hog and it wasn't fixed. Called them and they said that it would be another week before they could get it back in.

Three weeks it was down this time.

We took the tractor to yet another dealer and they fixed the PTO and it took them almost two weeks, it was 13 days total. To get it in and out due to parts issue. Now get this Mahindra fixed it this time under warranty.

This time it has been down since the last week of July. We had complained of reduced power three times that it went in the shop and it killed the bearings and head gasket killing the motor. Mahindra made us prove where we had done all of the maintenance and bought filters etc. We have a shop and are in the auto industry after it sitting for a maintenance at a dealer for two weeks without it even being looked at last year we started doing all of it in house. I was told that the tractor would be ready sometime this week, but I am not holding my breath.

Rental fees have been eating us alive because we use the loader every day to put muck into the trailer when cleaning out stalls. With the number of horses we have a fel is the only way to do this. Our old Ford tractor was never down for this and our dealer here would bring us a loaner unit when ours was down.

I was at an auction last week and purchased a Case 570MXT to use until we get what our tractor situation at the barn is going to be in the long haul. The Case doesn't have a PTO or I think I would keep it. It is said that you have to buy a backup tractor, but after this much time we feel that Mahindra should step up and replace our lemon of a machine. If they do not we are going to sell it with the new motor and not even risk it breaking again. So if you know anyone who wants a 6025 with a brand new motor and clutch and ~500hrs on the clock let me know. It also has a FEL.

Also the gage cluster doesn't work, we complained about this three times while it was under the first year of warranty they never did fully fix it and now they won't even look at it to fix because it is in the power train warranty portion.

Cheers,

TD

Thats a huge bad luck story. I think Mahindra owes you some quality time.
I dont believe MH has an "across the board" quality problem, but they do have a company/dealer problem that shows up more often. Generally the tractors are reliable and we dont see so much of this area. When a tractor has many issues you can be in real trouble if your dealer is not top notch or else Mahindra steps in with diligence.

Fortunately, my 7520 has been reliable, beyond the curl cyls and faulty cam gear - both of which were handled under warranty within a total of about 3wks down time. There was an electrical problem as well, but it was diagnosed by the Tech Rep on the phone and I was able to get around it until they sent a replacement part. Im at 3yrs and 505 hrs.
Wish you had had the luck to get a machine more representative of the norm...

Larry,

Thank you for the kind words. I also believe that Mahindra has a good product just a bad dealer network. That is why I would prefer a replacement tractor rather than going to another brand(Which is what we will do if they don't replace this one, or make it up to us some how, as we are out thousands in rental fees)

Of the three dealers near Houston there are two bad ones that we have found and one good one. The problem is even the good dealer is held up by Mahindra. It took them a couple of weeks just to get their field tech out to look at it before the dealer could continue on with the warranty work on the motor.

Cheers...

Hi Brandi, was that pulley a failure or damage?? They upgraded that pressed steel pulley to a cast iron one. My steel one didnt fail, but was upgraded when the addressed the cam gear.

UPDATE!!!

I haven't be able to speak to the dealer yet, nor has my other half but he called our service manager(Who is handling this for us) and told him that Mahindra asked to have the fuel pump sent to them. On Monday and found water in the fuel pump and are denying the warranty. I find this very odd that they didn't ask for the fuel pump before the post about them fixing the tractor and all the details about the repair. UGH!!!

I will post more details in the morning when I find them out but this isn't right by Mahindra in any way. Our other equipment has no water in the fuel in them at all, also I don't see how water could cause a motor failure in a diesel tractor. The motor was eating coolant as well.

Just a FYI GM will NOT deny warranty on a motor if it has water in the fuel, they just won't replace your injectors. I talked to two diesel mechanics this evening and they said there was no way that it would cause that.

Oh well.....

..... Our old Ford tractor was never down for this and our dealer here would bring us a loaner unit when ours was down....

Just wondering, if you had such a great experience with the old tractor and that dealer would even give you loaners, what compelled you to no longer use that dealer? Seems he earned your business with exceptional sevice, yet you bought another brand?

Just for the benefit of the rest of the readers, keep in mind that there is always two sides to the story, but only one gets told. I don't doubt that the dingy has had more than his share of issues with this tractor, but it is odd to also have so many problems with dealers and Mahindra. Maybe dingy and the dealer got sideways at some point, I don't know as I have not spoke with either. It seems that not having a loaner and having to rent a tractor exacerbated the problem. Some dealers have loaners, many do not.

We sell a fairly high volume of Mahindra tractors and have quite a few of the larger Mahindra's with several thousand hours on them. They have been reliable tractors. Sure we see some problems from time to time. Even John Deere has a service and parts department. We have found Mahindra to be very fair on warranty issues and responsive to us on questionable problems.

If a reader reads all of the dingy's post, you can see the frustration and the desire to use this forum to push Mahindra into covering the repairs. Nobody likes bad PR, so it just might work, but I dislike it. But it should never have to come to this. A reasonable owner should be able to set down with the dealer and solve such issues without all of this.

Having said all the above, I have to admit that if the tractor had never had issues, we would not be discussing these things. So while I do not agree with the manner that the dingy is taking to push Mahindra into covering this, I do still sympathize with him in the fact that the tractor has been a problem.

My concern now is that when a person gets so deeply dissappointed in an item and thinks he has a lemon, will he ever be satisfied? Even if the tractor is made perfect, there is a distrust, a sense of always having to listen for any little noise. A heightened awareness syndrome, so to speak. It might be best for dingy to get it fixed and to sell it. Put it behind him and go back to the original dealer that has loaners and that gave him exceptional service for years and years.

I could not have said it any better my self!
One thing I will add is the topic should have been... How much time have you had in downtown from warranty work or waiting for work on your TRACTOR?
I sell 3 different brands of tractors 2 of the are small brand names and 1 is a BIG name.
Let me tell you this the small guys listen and help out more times than the big guys!

Both dealers, I can understand your point.

I did not come on the forum to get them to warranty the unit or to bash Mahindra. I wanted to know if we had a lemon or if we had a normal experience. The main fact that I posted was because of another story that I heard about warranty time. I know that a person that purchased a Mahindra for commercial brush hogging has been down for over three weeks in their first month of owner ship and 27 hours of use. He will not post on here, but I wanted to know if there were other issues. I was asked by someone to post a detailed list of our problems that we have had, so I did. I also know of a few other stories, these are all from "hobby" farmers so it doesn't make that big of a difference for them. The main problem hasn't been Mahindra but the wait for service. ONTH I know five people with good Mahindra's that haven't been in the shop once, I just wanted to know where we stood.

Why did we not go back with New Holland(Ford) the dealer that sold us the tractor had done business with us at our store and we buy from who buys from us. He also promised the same level of service at a much lower price point than what the same size tractor in ford would cost. We wanted a KISS tractor (keep it simple Señor) so that the barn help could drive it easily and not have a lot of breakable extra features. The Mahindra looked as if it would fit the bill the best. We shopped all the brands locally available, JD, Kubota, New Holland & Mahindra.

That is currently the plan Dave, but if Mahindra makes it right we will stay with them. I am not pointing them to these posts, to force them to fix it(I prefer them to fix it on their own and then I be able to say that on here). I would have rather had someone fix it quickly than to post these. Good reviews are much better than bad. It is nice to do business with companies close to us and Mahindra is in Tomball.

Other words of note, my other half has asked that the area service manager or field technical rep call her for two weeks and she hasn't gotten a phone call. If this were a GM or Ford product in the auto industry she would have gotten the phone call and constant communication with that person. She is in the auto industry and we have seen this happen many times.

Another update....

We heard from a manager in Mahindra finally that got to the bottom of this. It wasn't the forum but a letter sent from the Mahindra truck division that got it done.

They are repairing the tractor and are replacing the clutch under warranty to (as a good will item, we were going to pay the 900 for the clutch as we understand this was a wear item and might as well replace it while we were in there) they said there was a fuel system issue, but I do not know where that is or what it is. I am still not clear if they are rebuilding or replacing the engine. I will let everyone know when we get the tractor back.

Another update.... Well it is yet almost another month and our Mahindra is still in the shop. Thank god, we stopped paying almost a grand a week in rental fees and purchased another tractor.

You won't believe this, but Mahindra sent the wrong torque specs to the dealer and they broke it worse so it won't be ready until this Friday..... Is this normal? Mahindra hasn't offered anything as far as helping us with the purchase of another tractor or a rental, we are just out the thousands of dollars for that.... We just wish Mahindra would make this right!

Cheers,

TD
