How to adjust a relief valve?

/ How to adjust a relief valve? #21
Cord said the valve had three spools, so I have to do some more homework.

That large relief valve in the picture could very well be a work port relief valve.

If the valve has a main relief, I don't see it.

The thing on the left looks like a plug for a spare IN port maybe or a no relief plug.

This spool valve looks similar to his valve with two work porst with reliefs.

3 SPOOL 17 GPM KYB OC VALVE

Cord,

Does the supply hose to that come directly from the pump?

The valve is a Husco 5000 series.

Go to page 21 and look at the relief valve.

They say the same thing I said.

http://www.huscointl.com/wp-content/pdf/5000.pdf

They also talk about shut off valves.

Look at pages 19 and 20 relief valves and shut off valves.

You will have one or the other.

IF YOU HAVE A SHUT OFF VALVE INSTALLED, THEN SOMEWHERE

UPSTREAM, THERE IS A RELIEF VALVE TO PROTECT THE PUMP.

You should get a manual.

The one I have for my Case 1845 is about 5 in thick and covers everything from front to back.

There are no shut off valves or reliefs upstream. If we assume that I'm correct in that the hose on the left side is the supply and the relief at the first section is a section relief, then I believe my primary relief valve can be found on page 20. Certainly looks simular. However, how the fleep is this thing adjusted??? There is no set screw under a acorn cap. Compare the relief on page 21 to page 20 to see what I'm refering too.

Cord
So are you stating your valve doesn't have adjustment screw 400509?

Somewhere under the acorn nut, you should find a hex, spline or slot for adjusting the relief.

Can you take a closeup of the inside of the relief valve?
