Hi, I developed a leak at a hose connection on my Mahindra tractor. When I checked the fitting it was loose. I didn't realize that this fitting used a sort of a jam nut to hold things into place and I messed up an o-ring that was in there.

I'd like to know the proper way to adjust this fitting. I should have a Viton o-ring to use as a replacement. Or do I need something special from the hydraulic shop? And how do I assemble this once I have the o-ring.

The red arrow in the second pic shows where the leak was before disassembly. The pics uploaded a bit out of order. Pic one is the threaded side of the quick connect, 2 is the original layout, 3 is the male threaded side, and 4 shows how I messed up the o-ring.

It looks like the o-ring goes into the slot marked with a red arrow in the 3rd pic, between the threaded areas, but beyond that I'm in the dark.

Thanks!

Either nitrile or viton material is fine for the O-ring

Loosen the jam nut so that washer is against the top threads. Install the O- ring in the groove and then screw the elbow in until the O-ring contacts the chamfer in the body. Orient the elbow in the proper direction and then tighten the jam nut. Try to keep the O-ring in the area without threads when tightening the jam nut

Thanks. That mostly makes sense, and I'm sure that once I start assembling it, it should make even more sense.

Now I'm off to dig through my o-ring assortment to find one the right size. And if i don't, then off to TSC in the morning to see if they have one.

Thanks again for your help. I located an o-ring in my assortment that was evidently the correct size, and no leak after 3 hours of running today.
