I pulled the generator off to get it rebuilt and figured I would replace the belt along with it but it looks like either the power steering pump or the front mounted hydraulic pump is connected and therefore won't allow me to remove the belt what is the easiest way to do this?

Tractors with front hydraulic pumps need pump/shaft assembly removed to replace fan belt. Unbolt pump from mounting bracket and drive coupler. Some shafts have splines in drive plate on front pulley, some are turned in place with LEFT hand threads, turn shaft CLOCKWISE to screw out of plate. After shaft is removed belt can be replaced, if shaft is splined it should pull straight out. Hope this helps.

Mine looks to have splines on it, so hopefully it wont be too hard to get out...My belt is still holding up, just looks to have a little age on it, so I figured while I could, Id replace it...And Dtech, maybe you can explain this one, I had the generator off and was gonna open it up and take a look to see if it just needed a good cleaning, in the mean time took it to my neighbors and bench tested it and it ran smoothly, and fast...Sounded good with no binding etc...So I put it back on the tractor and now its working again...Im hoping its working for good now, but we'll see...It worked before when we flashed the field, but the next day it quit and my uncle put his meter on it and said it was grounding out and that it wasnt working right...So thats when I took it off, and I honestly didnt do much other than check the spring contacts and make sure they were working and wiped the commentator a little to see how much smut was built up on it...

Make sure brushes are sliding freely under spring tension, they can be sticky in holders with dust buildup sometimes. Hydraulic spline shaft should slide out, but have seen them get rusty and hard to move also.
