how to d-load IE6 for a non Inet machine??

Long story short. i'm trying to get my brothers old Dell laptop setup to read a PDF file... Adobe wanted a series of files from the adobie site.. i got those.. updated windows installer.. and adobie started to load.. then! boing.. it doesn't like his IE version.

I now need to get IE6 on to his laptop. He has no internet. I went to microsoft to see if i could download IE to my computer ( save) and then copy over to his via cd.. but the file you get from microsoft is just the little 500K 'installer' file.

Ideas?

Another thought.. Is there a PDF reader that I can download for him that will run without the explorer upgrade?

He has an older dell latitude notebook.. mx 233 pent processor.. just uses it for work... I know it's old...

Right now, i can view the pdf file he needs in ver6.. even though it reports that it needs ver 7.. it displays fine.

There are dozens of embeded pics in the pdf file that he needs to view for work.. ( WRA and DRA excavation sites).. etc.

ideas?

Try this link (techgeeks.org). I found it from a "ie6 full install" search on Yahoo. There are many other hits. Also, if that doesn't pan out, I can put a zipfile of ie6sp1 on an ftp for you if you pm me.
I'm thinking doing a custom setup of Acrobat, you can select compomemts you want and omit browser support ... but you prob already tried that.

Just format and install Linux and all your problems will go away! ;-)
Sorry, just a little dig at the opensource guys.
Seriously though: when I was network Admin for a local bank I downloaded the IEAK (IE Admin kit) from MS and used it to make a custom install of IE6. It is a little bit of trouble but it works pretty good. It is wizard based, free, and once you set up all the options it downloads all the updates, cabs, etc and builds an installation set. You can even customize the Windows title :"Internet Explorer brought to you by Soundguy".

I know nothing about this place, but I found this that has a 75 MB version of the original 6.0 downlaod.EVOLT

Microsoft sure wants everyone to go to 7 don't they.

I'm trying the foxit right now. If that don't work.. I'll try for the 12mb download of ie6.

Hope it works for you. I uninstalled Acrobat Reader after using it for a while. It is small and fast and efficient and has all the features (that I use, anyway) of Adobe's bloatware. Long live Freeware!
