This thread is to show how to fill a fire pit and the many way to do it. I even get wood that float by our river camp. Granted you have to let it dry. I keep the large pieces of wood for heating my home and burn the tops. I can never keep my pit empty (below ground) due to the volume of wood. Other week I took out 20 bucks of ash out of it.
Any thought some one would get a kick out of it.
Roger

oh after thought the tree I was cutting had been leaning for years over the road to my camp. After one more flood the root ball gave up and it slowly fall so low it blocked the road only 3 feet off the road. I only cut up down trees for firewood. Love the shade too much to cut them down for firewood. Not mention the wild life

Seriously I'd invest in a pair of saw cutting chaps, a face shield (at minimum), and a pair of ear muffs or a large bo of ear plugs.

You wouldn't believe how much better you hear afterwearing ear plugs while running a saw.

Good question! 1st you have to remove the boat from a-top the drift wood, then you try and let the snag float free. I think it would take a few months to dry so we let it go on down the river. We have so much wood around that falls due to storms, old age, floods, that I just collect about 2 cords a year just that come down on their own. We have in the past lost a dock or two to large snags and large ice flows. But in general I leave the dirft wood alone unless we are on a sand bar and have bonefires. It gets kind of piffey.

any one out there cutting firewood in this 100 degree weather yet.?
