how to find steering drag link??

I have an LT-1000 craftsman mower, think its from 1993, as it says '93 on the airbox cover. It has the 16hp Kohler engine. The model number sticker under the seat is all gone, pure white, from age. Only info i have is i THINK its from 1993 and its the LT-1000, its green, and ifrc it has a 42 inch cutting deck. It broke the steering drag link, the little metal bar connecting the steering system to the actual piece connected to the wheel part. Any ideas since i dont have a model number to search on sears site? Can someone help me find a legit model number somehow, or point me as to how to? THANKS!

How 'bout a pic of the part with dimensions. It probably is similar to another model.

Go to Sears Parts Direct website and enter this number under model search:

917.271833

This is the model number of my Craftsman mower which is an LT1000 made in 2003 by AYP (American Yard Products) for Sears. You can pull up the various diagrams for the mower in order to compare and identify the parts. My guess is that the steering parts are close to the same, as this design probably hasn't changed much. In addition, Parts Direct has techs online to help you if this doesn't work. Good luck, Mike.

Make sure you are selecting search by model and Not by part number. I just used the website to look up a cross reference on a seat for my mower.
