how to flush a hydraulic system on a 2555 jd

Where is the relief valve at for the pump?

It is usually close by the pump.

What am I looking for at the value? I am new to hydraulics on john deeres. Its not like the old internationals.

Before you jump into the relief valve, you need to establish that the pump is actually pumping fluid.

However, the relief valve is set to a certain pressure, to protect the pump. If you know it is the problem, you can take it apart inspect, and repair if necessary.

Remove a hose from the pump and place in a bucket and see if the pump is working. Only run the engine for a few seconds.

For any hyd work, a 3000 psi pressure gage is recommended. It can be placed in a tee in the IN port of the FEL valve and will display any hyd pressure developed.

You really need a manual or access to the electronic data on your tractor.

You need to know how things work, how to trouble shoot, and repair whatever is broke.

I second what J_J stated that you need a JD tech manual. Closed center hyd's can be difficult for an experienced tech to diagnose so the INEXPERIENCED person is in for a REAL experience. 2555 has no hyd relief valve. It has a stroke control valve(parts key 16) that controls whether the pump pump oil or doesn't pump oil. The stroke control valve is located in the frt hyd pump. Stand-by pressure of the system should be 2250-2350 psi. Check to be be sure frt pump drive coupler is intact and that the pump shaft is spinning when engine is running.
