Here in Pa. you need a pesticide applicator's license to use a product like Crossbow. It is a very effective spray and will kill about any weed including multiflora rose.

When it’s really hot, you have to be careful with any herbicide around trees as high temps will cause volatilization of most of them. If enough vapors reach the tree canopy damage or worse can result.
