woods 74" blower on gravel drive...

would like to keep it abt 6" higher than the skids do to avoid big rocks

add 2 swivel wheels (like fm rolling tool chest) by drilling hole in bottom of skid?

make taller skid?

just keep it up with hydraulics?

Taller steel skids if you want it to last.
Swivel wheels will just get ripped off.
Hydraulics wont do the job very well as the tractor goes up and down over bumps which will exaggerate the movement the blower makes as far as height above the ground is concerned.

I agree with Dave and would suggest adjustable skids. I also use a blower on a gravel drive but only need 2-3 inches to avoid the gravel. Setting the blower to 6 inches will leave a lot of snow on the driveway. I take a walk just before the snow really starts and toss the larger rocks off the road/driveway before the season starts.

I did something similar with my Meteor blower. I added a set of larger adjustable skids to keep it from digging in.

I initially set up my snow blower level front-to-back, adjusted the skid shoes for
approximately zero clearance between the cutting edge and level ground, then
shortened the top link to raise the leading edge up about an inch or so until the
ground was frozen, then lengthened the top link to level the snow blower front-
to-back. I have a gravel driveway, and this seems to work, just about eliminating
gravel pickup. Oh, and as Joeyd stated, walk along the driveway prior to snow
blowing season to pick up any large loose rocks.

I think the skids or a set of sled runners would work great.

I found a picture of the add-on skids I made and yes, I tilt mine back also. It helps.

Just shorten the top link to the shortest for the first pass of the season.
What's left on the ground will pack and freeze solid, then you can adjust the top link back for a clean path.
Simple , effective and free.
Been maintaining our gravel driveways like that on the farm for 3 generations without an issue.
