Kubota B7800
This is I think my second post here and I'm still learning how to do things. My question is I have a Kubota B7800 w/ a Caroni rear finishing mower. I can't seem to get the mower to sit on all 4 wheels. The front wheels are off the ground about 1/2 inch. I did change the small arms of the lift arms ( don't know the proper name)to another hole on the lift arms and that helped but it seems like an awful lot of trouble to hook up something. Sorry for what I'm sure to some is a stupid question but I've seen mowers with the rear wheel brackets broken and this is probably why. Thanks for any replies. Billy

Wish we had a picture, Billy. That sounds as if the top link on your 3-point needs to be adjusted to a shorter length.

Yes, I agree, it does sound like the top link needs to be shorter. The Caroni should just sort of "float" (run on the 4 wheels) behind the tractor. It will not be able to do that if the top link is adjusted "Long".

I run MY 4 wheeled mower with out the top link, (not recogmended by me to anyone else) but the mower has 4 wheels for following the level of the dirt lawn.) anyhow if you go down into a gully with the top link hooked up SOLID (way it sounds) you will easly put lots of pressure on to the rear wheels and break something. many mowers have self compensating linkages so that when you go up/down small irrigularities the mower travels with them and when you riase it the links take up slack and then lift the mower.

what it sounds like you're mower is less expensive unit like mine. others have set up pipe and a chaine for the top link so that there is some FLOAT between the lower lift arms and the top link connection (run the chaine through a 2" sch 80 pipe) and use D rings at each end to connect to the mower.

note this DOSE prevent the mower from KICKING up & forward where as running NO top link does not... I've caught an OLD stump with the front of mine and nearly made a bunch of damage, I got lucky and only broke the belt. but I pulled the stump nearly out of the ground because of it. and scared the bajiebers out of me!

The 3 point adjustments are just as everyone has suggested. Adjusting the top link levels the mower from front to back. Adjusting the turnbuckle on the right side 3 pt arm levels the mower from right to left. Finish mowers usually run on gauge wheels which are adjustable with spacers on the gauge wheel yoke. Hope this helps.

One of my RFM's is a Caroni 60 incher. It has been used and abused for nearly 10 years. Decent mower. Anyway, mine floats like the others have described. On mine, the whole top part of the frame should be loose, so the long slot in the one bar acts to regulate just how far. Mine is set so when I pick it up with the 3PH, it comes up in the air a bit higher in the front that in the rear. If the toplink is adjusted shorter than that, the rear wheels of the mower will pick off the ground when cresting a small hill. To clean the mower, I adjust the toplink as short as possible, raise the 3PH, block the deck up, and clean underneath.

My other RFM is a LandPride. It has a separate link that swings and is connected to the toplink. It does the same job as the moveable top frame of the Caroni.

The shorter the toplink, the more it pulls up on the rear of the mower. It sounds like your toplink is way too long. Any chance of getting a picture?...............chim

Thanks to all who replied. I did shorten the top link and that works!! Thanks again, Billy

My center link moves quite a lot when I mow. It follows the contour of the ground well. Sometimes I may get one of my rear wheels to come off the ground but they do a pretty good job of staying on the ground.
