How To Make A Homemade Boom Sprayer

Do you have electric valves or manual ones? I would like to make something like yours. what was the cost? did you hook it to an atv sprayer? ect. Thanks Ed
I didn't make it: it's a Fimco UTL-60-12V-BL. It's a standard electric demand pump, I've got it wired to a switch on the dashboard. The nozzles each have a shutoff valve integral to the "body" that the nozzles mount to. It's basically about a 3' "boom" with those three nozzles on it. I've been exceedingly happy with it, I've run a LOT of grazon P+D through the thing.. You could pretty easily just build that "boom" if you can source those nozzles and valves. Beyond that, it's a standard 3.8 gpm demand pump.

When I got it, I looked around pretty hard, and this was the cheapest place to get it:

Amazing ATV Machinery - UTV mounted sprayer products

There are other places listing it cheaper, but the free shipping takes it back... They got it here very quickly, too.

For a small sized one like that, I would just copy one of the common Fimco sprayers. And really ,for a narrow spray pattern like 48", I think a boom is unnecessary. I spray a 40 foot pattern with a single spray head on a big tank I built. I also doubt you can build a system for much less than you could buy one for. But if you have a tank, a small 12V pump, and a spray head, all you need are plumbing fittings. Even for my big 275 gallon system, I just copied the small 25 gal Fimco, but with a bigger pump.

Rsw05, Okay, thanks for your time and information.

I know this is an old thread, but it's a new issue for me and I like your resolution! I've got a 2 pastures that I need to spray and I really don't want to pay $3K for a sprayer but I also don't want to have to rely on someone else who may or may not show up! Do you mind sharing the type of nozzle head that is and the other components? Thanks in advance.

I had the wheels / axle from an old boat trailer and a 35 gal tank from an older sprayer so I figured I would save $$ and build my own sprayer to tow behind my mower for spot spraying in rows of Christmas trees. By the time I had purchased the pump and all the correct valves, fittings, etc, plus battery (to avoid over-taxing the mower battery) , it would have been cheaper to just buy a whole new unit. Northern Tool has a selection, but they are probably available from several vendors.
