If you are talking about making a rigid ROPS into a folding ROPS, that is about the last thing I would do to my tractor. ROPS are certified, and not to be modified in any way. Not even drilling holes in them much less modifying the design. I am not trying to be Debbie Downer here, but I am advising you the best way I know how. Welcome to TBN. Oh I am not on the "safety police" force, but I really would not modify my ROPS. Seriously.

If I were wanting to mod my ROPS in disregard to the advise of the safety police, I would follow the design on a folding one and have a good welding shop fab and weld the hinge components. Get some ROPS pins/bolts of the same size and quality that are used on a folding one. In other words just duplicate one that has already been designed and approved and you should be OK. It isn't rocket science, just standard engineering design for structural steel, so if you use the exact same design that has been tested and passed then your modified ROPS would be as workable as a factory one.

I wouldn't be afraid to make a folding ROPs, but I would look carefully at some factory ones, take a few pictures of them, ask my engineer friend what he thought of my design and then have the welding done by a certified welder (me).
But, before we get into a discussion about this, it might be good to wait on the OP to tell us what he meant. :confused3:
