how to prevent electric fence gate handle from rusting

my electric fence handles rust at the point of contact. I have tried different handles and some last longer than others. Is there something I can coat the point of contact that will prevent rusting?

Not really--maybe some dialectic grease. They are rusting at the point of connection between the wire and the handle and the handle and the connector on the pole? The current is causing galvanic corrosion.

Best thing for rust is Rust Reformer by Rustoleum. There are other brands, too, but this one is probably the most prevalent. It turn irons oxide (rust) to iron sulfide, which is black. There's also some flat black paint in the spray can.

Been using this type stuff for years. Works great on rust or to keep bright metal from rusting.

As USTMD said galvanic corrosion is the issue as I thought. Just hoping there was a solution cheaper than replacing handles. Thanks for the replies
