I have a John Deere LT180 that I've had nothing but problems from. It got to where it didn't want to pull up a hill, which I put up with until it broke a rear axle. I had to drop the entire rear end, and get a used one to replace the broken axle. Now, it just stops and has subsequently started making a loud noise. I'm thinking that the keyway is partially sheared off and is what is making this scraping noise. I remember how hard it was to drop the rear end to replace the axle, and this man told me that you could take the rear deck off (which has the seat and everything else), and you can see down in to replace belts and other assorted parts. I've looked at it, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to take that rear deck off, and I don't want to tear something up. I'm no mechanic, but if I have directions to follow, I can usually do it, but I cannot find directions anywhere on how to remove the rear deck.
