How To Replace A Starter Switch On A 861D 5 Speed

A big thanks to Soundguy for helping me solve half of my starting problem, which was the solenoid.

Now I have to replace the starter switch. I've read I should start by putting the transmission in neutral. When I remove the transmission cover plate are there any springs or clips I need to look for? Also, does this tractor have a neutral saftey switch inside the transmission case?

it's not a switch.. it's a mechanical interlink.

you can't press the thumb start switch if the shifter is not in one of the 3 N gates... same as the 4spd... has to be in N to press down...
