I'm with Koop, avoid poisons if possible. How do you feel about goats? Goats love the stuff and munch it down like candy. If you don't have or want your own goats, maybe you could entice a local goat owner to pay you a visit, or contact your local 4H group.
I've noticed that I have some poison ivy this year too. I don't usually have much unless you go way back in the woods. If it ever stops raining, my game plan is to try spraying 2-4-D and surfactant first. That is usually the cheapest route, if it works. I tend to use Round-up (glyohosphate) as a last resort, just because it does tend to kill everything. Also, using 2-4-D won't kill your grass (depending on what you have). If that doesn't work, I'll probably try Remedy, Grazon P+D or one of the other weed/brush killers which are usually a mixture of 2-4-D and something else.
As you can tell, I'm not much on dressing in a suit of armour and pulling it by hand.
