How to stake a flanged bronze bushing?

/ How to stake a flanged bronze bushing? #11
Cut a shallow groove around the outside of the bushing and put a snap ring on to keep it from backing out. You need a mechanical fastener instead of trying to glue oiled bronze to sheet metal. And bronze is not well suited to staking or pressing in. It's more brittle than malleable, and it is not a strong material. Works great for bearings though.

If you really want to stake it in, you could press fit a bronze bushing into a mild steel stepped sleeve, ream the bronze to fit the shaft, and then stake the sleeve to the hole in the frame. Or, hold the steel stepped sleeve in with a snap ring.

^^^ A lock ring like this wouldn't need a groove and might clamp the sheet metal tightly enough that it won't rotate there instead of inside the bushing.

That lock ring looks like a good choice. I wonder if McMaster Carr would have the exact size needed?
