BB TX,
Yep it comes up repeatedly. By no means am I directing this at you. It continues to amaze me.
A PHD is, for most of us, a rarely used item. My Dad's gets used once every few YEARS. Unless you put in posts or trees for a living, it sees in frequent use. JUST TAKE IT APART. For a 6" or 9" auger, only 2 pieces. Very manageable for one person. Remove the powerhead, pto shaft, and auger as a unit. The frame is very light and easy to install/remove with out the mechanicals. Larger augers are probably best removed from the power head prior to removal from the frame, though I don't know, never used a 12" auger. Once disassembled, the 2-3 pieces can be carried by one person INSIDE. Another advantage to this. A PHD frame makes an excellent light duty 3ph gin pole. I have seen these things for my almost 2 years on this site and for the life of me haven't figured out why anyone at all (except pros that use a PHD a lot) would want to hang a PHD up outside. Or the digging a hole in the ground. How utterly insane. Leave an auger in a hole that will fill with water??? In 5 years you'll have a rusted out auger.
Sorry for my venting. I think the whole issue is stupid. TAKE IT APART!
